ALTERNATOR CONTROL
EXCITATION
The excitation of the alternator is done during the starting process. In order to improve
the start behavior of the engine, the excitation is started after the engine speed exceeds the
predetermined value. For this purpose, the excitation of the alternator is done through the
engine-ECU. Due to the high current needed for the excitation, two power stages are driven simultaneously.
LOAD EVALUATION
The engine-ECU acquires the load signal (PWM signal) of the alternator and converts it
into the percentage value depending on the alternator load. The engine-ECU requests the charging
warning lamp to go ON/OFF based on the alternator load and the battery voltage.
